The policy allocates the majority (1) of Iraq?s oilfields ? accounting for at least 64% of the country?s oil reserves ? for development by multinational oil companies.
Iraqi public opinion is strongly opposed to handing control over oil development to foreign companies. In this country there are amny people that have fallen victim to drugs and one way of using them is through injection by needles. I do not think that free needle programs neccessarly encourage addicts to continue using the drugs I think that it helps secure there the possible transmission of deadly diseases, and that to me seems the ultimate plan of action , trying to protect others from contracting a deadly disease. According to an article in speakout.com
"As many as half of new HIV infections are caused by the sharing of injection equipment contaminated with HIV, either directly due to injection drug use, through unprotected sex with someone who acquired HIV infection through injection drug use, or birth to a mother who acquired HIV infection through these means.
An estimated three out of four AIDS cases among women are due to injection drug use or heterosexual contact with someone infected with HIV through injection drug use, and over 75% of new infections in children result from the consequences of injection drug use in a parent.
One study showed that HIV-1 can survive over 4 weeks in a contaminated syringe, remaining infectious to individuals who reuse that syringe over this prolonged period"
Programs such as free needle programs are beneficial to the community in that it does protect young children that can easily become infected if there mother is injecting herself with dirty neeldes.

A really good links to get information on the texas v. johnson case is at
www.landmarkcases.org
www.straylight.org

Blog #5
I beleive that no state should make same sex marriages illegal. Although I consider myself a religious person and according to my Catholic religion same sex marriages are immoral, I think that personnaly if people choose who they want to marry it does not affect me in any way and also I would not want the government prohibiting me from marrying the person I chose. Another argument that supports my claim is the idea of separation of religion and state, which to my understanding deals with the government not presiding over a certain religion, which brings me to the idea that if inside the government the reinging religion happens to be Christianity. Many Christians also believe that same sex marriages are immoral and wrong. So the question is this, how much religious influence can the government impose on the citizens. The answer should be none, but of course that is obviously not going to happen and therefor the people of this country should make a stand against these types of laws that involve religion. I think that California is giving an equal opportunity its citizens by allowing same sex marriages legalized.

Blog #4
I think that there should not be an amendment to the United States Constitution prohibiting the desecration of the u.S flag. although desecration of the United States flag can be considered disrespectful and innappropiate to many Americans it should be noted that if a person chooses to desecrate the U.S flag by burning, stomping on, tearring it to pieces or in any oher manner it can be regarded as as form of expression against the government of this country. There was at one point a question proposed to the audience as to, should the news show pictures of dead bodies on television. Then the news shifted over to Nancy Grace and the discussion was concerning the 3000 registered sex offenders that were amongst the people in the devastated areas from the hurricane. Then I watched Fox and the top news story was also about the devastation hurricane Katrina had on Mississpi and Louisiana. But the difference was that they covered more local news and they spent only a brief time mentioning what was happening.
I was all caught up watching the news ever since the hurricane disaster and every morning that was the first thing that I would do, turn on the television. The stories covered on the TODAY show were just so heartbreaking that would become sentimental.

Journal #2
The issue is whether the Eight Circuit Court of Appeals should have ruled that the state of Arkansas could force death-row prisoner Charles Laveme Singleton to take antipsychotic drugs to make him sane enough to execute. Another issue presented here is whether it is right for the government to ask doctors to make people better so that the government can kill them. My position on this issue is that I agree with what the court did. If Singleton was already on death-row meaning that he was sentenced to death by a jury and that at the time he was obviously determined sane then it makes no difference if he's given any drugs to make him sane or not he still is going to die in prison. He was sentenced to death before he became insane. I think that the court ruled correctly in this case because Singleton was on death row from the start. If the case had been that he was clinically diagnosed insane during his trail phase then he should have gone to a hospital or clinic and spent his days having the apporpiate care, but that is not the case. So giving him medication to make him sane enough to execute him is just a waste of drugs.

On the second issue I believe that the government should not be allowed to ask doctors for medical help to cure a patient so that they can be killed later.

Do people choose which sex they are attracted to?
Yes I think that people choose which sex they are attracted to but the attraction to specifics qualities a person has to offer is greater and more important when it comes to choosing a partner or mate. Being attracted to a specific sex is only the physical part of selecting someone. The more important factor is choosing someone they care for. Take for example heterosexual people are attracted to the opposite sex and it is in those people that they look for the qualities that will make them feel good. Also homosexual people are attracted to the same sex. They choose to invovle them selves with the same sex because thats what makes them feel good or right to them.
